Crooked Lake community - Update on Lake levels for Crooked and Eagle lakes
The lake level data from last week indicates that the level of Eagle Lake has meet the threshold where the flood relief pump may be turned on. This was discussed this with Jason Wiersma, Drain Commissioner, and delegated authority for system operation, and he has given permission to begin pumping on Eagle Lake. It is anticipated that the pumps will be turned on mid-morning.
The EGLE permit that established the operating conditions are as follows
27. The Eagle Lake flood relief pump may be turned on when water levels meet or exceed an elevation of 899.59-feet, which is 4-inches above the legal lake level of 899.26-feet. The maximum pump rate shall be 500 GPM. The Eagle Lake flood relief pump shall be turned off when water levels reach an elevation of 898.93-feet, which is 4-inches below the legal lake level of 899.26-feet.
28. The Crooked Lake flood relief pump may be turned on when water levels meet or exceed an elevation of 895.45-feet, which is 4-inches above the legal lake level of 895.12-feet. The maximum pump rate shall be 800 GPM. The Crooked Lake flood relief pump shall be turned off when water levels reach an elevation of 894.79-feet, which is 4-inches below the legal lake level of 895.12-feet.
Please note that Eagle Lake has met the permit threshold for pumping, but Crooked Lake has not. When Crooked Lake meets the elevation where pumping is permitted, then pumping will begin out of Crooked Lake.
Water level updates as of 03 05 JAN 25!
Crooked Lake is ¾ -inch above the legal lake level
Eagle Lake is 3.6 inches above legal lake level.
Both levels are still below the point where we would start pumping.
